Made for the Empowering the Woman Within - Contest.
[link] 35 x 50 cm, color pencils, watercolor, graphite, ink I dislike explaining works and ideas, but since it's one of the clauses of the contest....: I used some religious symbols in order to make a parallel between power and religion. One of them is the nun dress - an allegory for humility, in order to express that the women are supposed to be the weak gender. Also, there are some pure "feminine" symbols, such as the snake and the apples, who helped Eve to "seduce" Adam. And some references below, in order to show women's power (sexual mostly) above men. The girl is me, Diego
I think the apple is my favorite part though...I finally can eat my model...
By the way, I forgot to comment, I love the song Magdalena from A Perfect Circle, I thought (and still think) it was their finest track (also, I remember you had another illustration called Orestes, like another song from that album).
I also love this song, actually I adore the whole album. Today I though, it'll be nice to do most of the songs from this album as illustrations...This particular one is an accident - Firstly I started with NIN's Reptile & Sanctified, then I listened to Mer de Nomes and I thought the lyrics match perfectly with the meaning...and I needed a title, so I stole it.
